Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…I had an email drafted and ready to send to you yesterday about the Cardinals heading to the Super Bowl, but this morning I am drafting a different email with a different message. What a heartbreaking end to an outstanding season. I am sure, many of you are feeling the same disappointment this morning that I am. But those who know anything about greatest know that in the eye of defeat, you must rise up and become better for it. There is no time for wallowing or feeling sorry for yourself.

What lies ahead is opportunity…the opportunity to learn, grow and renew the determination and commitment. It’s a time to reevaluate and make necessary adjustments. So just like the Arizona Cardinals, what are you willing to change this week in order to become great? What commitments are you willing to make, to yourself and those around you, so you can begin to live the life you were destine to live? Let’s make it a great week!

PS There is always next season, right?

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…boy, what an exciting weekend with the Powerball reaching a historic-all-time-high! Although it was probably a silly way to spend $20.00 I shamefully admit that I gave into the buzz and purchased a few tickets. For a moment, it was fun to fantasize about all the ways we would spend the money, places we would travel and those we would help.

What would you do if you won the mega-lottery? I read an article in TODAY Money about winning the lottery – and it wasn’t all that great. While we think going from rags to riches would be the ideal solution, it is actually reported by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, that nearly one-third of all lottery winners end up bankrupt.

Money doesn’t grow on trees, unless you happen to be that one in 292.2 million lucky person who hits the mega-lottery! In order to grow long-term wealth it takes a plan, dedication and consistency. And according to the 2015 Return on Investment reports by GoldPrice.org, real estate came in at 6.8 percent rate of return, verses silver at -11.5 percent or the Dow Jones at -2.2 percent. Where ever you choose to put your hard-earned money, be sure to have a plan and be committed to it. Let’s make it a great week!

Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Welcome to the first 2016 edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message! I love this quote and think it is fitting as we begin the first official week of the New Year. Among the holiday celebrations I also took some time to work on my goals and business plan for the year. As I shared last week, your goals have a better chance of coming to life if you take the time to document them…and share them with someone you can trust and who will hold you accountable. Don’t share your goals with the “water cooler” types, who won’t share your vision or your enthusiasm. If you haven’t written your goals yet, I challenge you to find a few hours this week to work on you for the New Year. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

1. What was your best accomplishment in 2015?
2. What is something that is holding you back? And how can you let it go?
3. What are you committed to achieving in 2016?
4. How are you going to work on building long-term wealth?
5. What are you most grateful for?
6. Who do you need to forgive?
7. What new habits will you cultivate for 2016?

The best preparation we can do for tomorrow, is doing our best today…are you using your time wisely? What habits do you need to cultivate in the New Year to help support your goals? Success is a combination of good habits and a focused intention. Let’s make it a great week!

ENOURAGEMENT CORNER

There was a wise man Sviatozar. One day his nephew came to visit him. The young man was sad, gloomy and obviously upset with something. Sviatozar asked what happened to him. The nephew said that he suffered a serious setback and now he will never be able to achieve his goal.

The nephew asked an old man to give him advice what he should do next, but Sviatozar just asked to lead him to the hills. This road was difficult and long. But the nephew immediately agreed to help his uncle. When they reached the hills, Sviatozar said that he needed to go to the top of the highest hill. The young man was surprised, but decided to help his uncle, because the old man had never climbed there.

With great difficulty the nephew helped his uncle to climb to the hill, sometimes even dragged the old man on his back. On the top of the hill, sweating, he put his uncle on the ground and laughed happily.

“Do you remember that when you were a little boy sometimes you returned home with tears in your eyes?”  Sviatozar asked him. “The boys teased you. Do you remember why?” The young man looked around and nodded. He recalled that as a child he often played there with other boys. He answered, “They called this hill an Everest, because only few people could get to its top. At that time I was unable to get there. This hill seemed an impregnable rock to me.”

“And today you not only climbed there, but dragged up me, too,” the old man said and looked at his nephew. “How could you do this? What do you think?”

“Perhaps I just grew up,” the young man shrugged. “I became stronger and fitter …”

“And the formidable Everest suddenly turned into a harmless mound” said Sviatozar. “You got my advice.”
