Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Let's make his a great week, the ending of 2013 and the beginning of 2014. Welcome to this edition of Nate's Monday Morning Message.

This week and every week we have the opportunity to be an optimist about our future and at the same time be knowledgeable about the past. This is the last week of the year and WOW what an amazing year it has been. Let us take with us into this New Year ahead all the lessons that we have learned from the past. Let us plan and put into action all of the things we must to make our future as bright as possible. Regardless of where you are now, decide that the future will be better for you and those around you. If YOU decide to do that - IT will happen!!! It is all up to you! This is the last week of the year so, let's make it the best week of the year!

Another calendar year comes to an end as the world welcomes another new one. Strangely, I am reminded of Elton John's song in the movie The Lion King: "The Circle of Life" (Thank you, Mr. John and Mr. Rice, for letting me quote your masterpiece here):

The Circle of Life (Music by Elton John, Lyrics by Tim Rice, From the soundtrack of "The Lion King”)

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to be seen than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done   Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give

In the circle of life
It's the wheel of fortune
It's the leap of faith
It's the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle, the circle of life

Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars

There's far too much to take in here

More to find than can ever be found

But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

I am particularly moved by the second stanza: "Some say eat or be eaten, some say live and let live; but all are agreed as they join the stampede, you should never take more than you give." The laws of nature say that every creature's role in the grand scheme of things is to take as well as give. Each of us is predator as well as prey. As a vital link in the food chain, we are allowed to acquire what we need to survive, but we are also required to provide what others need to live. Life's basic rule is that simple.
Unfortunately, some of us are lured to excesses and extremes. We want to have more than the next person, often times killing one another in the process. We want to be bigger than our neighbors, often times depriving others of their means to survive. We take more than we give. This is how we disrupt the natural flow of existence. This is how we bring about evil, pain, and suffering. And this is why...

"Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars"

As the song continues, it describes life as a wheel of fortune, a leap of faith, and a band of hope... until we find our place on the path that unwinds... in the endless round. Another ending, another beginning, yet nothing will be the same. The next twelve months will bring a new string of fortunes and misfortunes, new opportunities to take countless leaps of faith, and renewed hope in our struggle to build a more meaningful, more prosperous life for us all. Let's welcome the New Year by celebrating the circle... and miracle of life!

Happy Holidays from Nate Martinez

Happy Holidays from Nate Martinez

In our fast-paced, technology driven world today, it is easy to get caught up in the latest gadgets and toys. It is easy to get stressed out about all the shopping, cooking and preparing we have to do. And doesn't it seem like the holidays come by surprise each year, even though the dates on the calendar never change?

The holidays are a time for showing our loved ones how much they mean to us, sharing our favorite holiday foods and creating memories that we will remember. As many of you know, I am a big Apple fan and this TV commercial makes me appreciate how technology gives us the opportunity to memorialize our experiences, so they can last beyond the few weeks we celebrate the holiday season.

Wishing you and your loved ones, a celebration filled with good food, laughter and may your latest gadgets and toys help you to capture the memories you create this holiday season. Nate

The Cricket! Author Unknown

A Native American and his friend were in downtown New York City, walking near Times Square in Manhattan. It was during the noon lunch hour and the streets were filled with people. Cars were honking their horns, taxicabs were squealing around corners, sirens were wailing, and the sounds of the city were almost deafening.

Suddenly, the Native American said, "I hear a cricket." His friend said, "What? You must be crazy. You couldn't possibly hear a cricket in all of this noise!"

"No, I'm sure of it," the Native American said, "I heard a cricket." "That's crazy," said the friend.

The Native American listened carefully for a moment, and then walked across the street to a big cement planter where some shrubs were growing. He looked into the bushes, beneath the branches, and sure enough, he located a small cricket. His friend was utterly amazed.

"That's incredible," said his friend. "You must have super-human ears!"

"No," said the Native American. "My ears are no different from yours. It all depends on what you're listening for."

"But that can't be!" said the friend. "I could never hear a cricket in this noise."

"Yes, it's true," came the reply. "It depends on what is really important to you. Here, let me show you."

He reached into his pocket, pulled out a few coins, and discreetly dropped them on the sidewalk. And then, with the noise of the crowded street still blaring in their ears, they noticed every head within twenty feet turn and look to see if the money that tinkled on the pavement was theirs. "See what I mean?" asked the Native American. "It all depends on what's important to you."

As we finish up a great year, I am most excited about what the future will hold. I am wide eyed about all the greatness that is waiting right around the corner. We have achieved much and I am very thankful for all of our accomplishments this past year personally and professionally. Happy New Year Wish by Joanna Fuchs

My Happy New Year wish for you
Is for your best year yet,
A year where life is peaceful,
And what you want, you get.

A year in which you cherish
The past year's memories,
And live your life each new day,
Full of bright expectancies.

I wish for you a holiday
With happiness galore;
And when it's done, I wish you
Happy New Year, and many more.

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate's Monday Morning Message. This week and every week we have the opportunity to be in the mindset we need to be in to succeed. Have you ever truly thought about why some people succeed over and over again while others fail over and over again.

Yes, sometimes there are real differences in people or situations. The real difference is their attitude towards the success or belief. It is one of the most powerful forces in the universe - Belief. You need to get real straight on your beliefs and what you are going to put your time and attention into. This is the week to get straight! Let's Make This The Best Week of The Year!

Be careful driving this morning and please make sure to sign up for the various holiday parties coming up.

I wanted to share a word with you that I think is very fitting at this time of year - BELIEVE.
I hope that all of you still do, in many things large and small. I hope that all of you share this wonderful concept with all the people you care about. I hope you all never loose this magical idea - Believe.
I Believe we have not come this far to fail or give up now.
I Believe we are meant to go through storms before we see the beautiful sun.
I Believe the kingdom we live in is unshakable.
I Believe family become friends and friends become family.
I Believe all my hard work will pay off.
I Believe 2013 will be the best year of my life so far.
I Believe I have the power to change anything I do not like.
I Believe collectively we are stronger than we are apart.
I Believe love is the solution to all problems.
I Believe time brings about opportunity and thought.
I Believe I have been put on this earth and in this position for a purpose.
I Believe I am capable of anything as long as I have the desire to do it.
I Believe I am who I am because of all the people in my life.
What do you Believe?

WORDS TO LIVE BY... “I believe that every human mind feels pleasure in doing good to another.” -  Thomas Jefferson

“You'll see it when you believe it.” - Wayne Dyer

“I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.”- Vince Lombardi

“I do not believe a man can ever leave his business. He ought to think of it by day and dream of it by night.”- Henry Ford

“I believe that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty.” - John D Rockefeller

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning MessageThis week and every week we have the opportunity to be optimistic and excited about what a new week, a new month, and a soon to be new year will bring. What I do know is one thing - The newness in our life will only be what we make it to be. We cannot change some situations, but we can change our reaction to it.

We cannot change some people, but we can change how we think about them and how they have an impact on us. We cannot change a lot of things, but we can change a lot of things. Make this the week you set your new course. This is the week to make miracles happen or at least start to happen. Let's make this the best week of the year!

One day a farmer found an eagle’s egg and brought it home. He placed the eagle’s egg together with some chicken eggs to be hatched. The little eagle was hatched together with the other chicks. He began his life like the other chicks and the mother hen. He followed the ways of the chicken. He ate, walked, crowed, and moved like all the other chickens. One day an eagle flying nearby saw the little eagle mingling together with the chickens. He flew down to talk to the young eagle. All the chickens ran away because they were terrified of the eagle. The young eagle also tried to run but was stopped by the adult eagle. The adult eagle asked, “What are you doing here with the chickens? You are an eagle just like me. You can fly like me and your home is high up among the cliffs”. The young eagle said, “I am a chicken and this is where I belong, together with the other chickens. See, I cannot fly!” The adult eagle then grabbed the eagle in his claws, and with all his might proceeded to fly to the nearby cliffs. The adult eagle said, “I am going to teach you how to fly.” The flying lesson began and to his bewilderment, the young eagle discovered that he could fly. Of course, he fell many times before succeeding. He discovered his true self with the help of the adult eagle, and never again went back to the chickens. We are all born EAGLES and are able to soar high into the heavens. We are not CHICKENS that stay on the ground looking for food, just for the day. We have a higher potential within us and we should realize it. In fact we should be successful like the adult eagle, so that we can in turn teach other young eagles, who think they are chickens to fly. Someone once said The only way to help the poor is not to be poor yourself.”

“It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.” - Henry David Thoreau

“Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.” - Dale Carnegie

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” - Abraham Lincoln

“Forgiveness is the giving, and so the receiving, of life.” - George MacDonald

“Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.” - Oscar Wilde

“A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.” - Thomas Carlyle
