Softer Home Sales Start the New Year

by Nate Martinez

Softer Home Sales Start the New Year

Like last year, 2015 home sales are starting the year at a slower pace. January home sales were 3.9 percent lower than sales in January 2014. Last year, sales improved dramatically during the spring and summer months and three of the last four months of 2014 recorded higher sales than one year earlier.

“One month certainly doesn’t make a trend. As we saw last year, home sales started rather slow, but rebounded during the prime selling months. In fact, 2014 ended with a respectable 4.9 million sales of existing homes, which we believe represents a sustainable rate of growth. So, we still need a few more months of data to tell how this market will perform in 2015.” Dave Liniger, RE/MAX, LLC CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder

With a constrained inventory, the January Median Price rose by 11.2 percent over last January. And the inventory of homes for sale was 10.9% lower than one year ago. At the current rate of sales, the corresponding Months’ Supply of inventory fell slightly to 5.2 on a scale where 6.0 indicates a market balanced equally between buyers and sellers. Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message. I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend filled with lots of fun and relaxation. This week, as we work to improve ourselves both personally and professionally, let us keep in mind that the world is full of mirrors. We will see in ourselves what we put out to the world and we will get what we give to others.  As you wake each morning, I hope you look forward to all the great opportunity you have that day. As you wake each morning, I hope you look forward to all the people you will have the chance to meet or help that day. As you wake each morning, I hope you look forward to all the love, happiness, and joy you could have if you just gave it. This week spend a few more minutes on what you have total control over - your attitude towards others.

Let’s make this the best week of the year!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

House Of 1000 Mirrors, Author Unknown

Long ago in a small, far away village, there was place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the House, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often."

In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door. When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, "That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again."

All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet?

Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. This week I wanted to talk about happiness. Many of us do not spend that much time thinking about our own happiness. We go about our day just looking to do whatever we can to get to the next day. When we do think about happiness it is mostly about how we can make the people around us happier. I would suggest to you that true happiness is contagious. If you are happy with who you are, the things you are doing, and the way you are doing them, you will certainly be in a better place to make others happy. Most of the major challenges in our lives require small changes to fix. They may seem overwhelming at the moment, but when you take little bites and know what you want and where you want to go it's not that bad.

Let's take some time this week to work on ourselves. Let's take some time to get rid of the animosity or resentment or frustration towards others. There is only one person that can make you who you are. YOU. You control your reaction to all things that happen to you. Take responsibility for that. If you are not happy, do little things each and every day to change the situation. The first thing you should do is change the glasses you are looking through. Change your perspective on what the problem really is and ask yourself, "What can I do right now to make this situation better?" There is always something you can do. Always. You just need to find what it is. Do not look outside for the answer. Look inside. When you are happier, the people around you will be too. When you are happier, your situation looks better. When you are happier, great things happen because you can now finally see them!!!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Wishing
Poet: Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Do you wish the World were better?
Let me tell you what to do:

Set a watch upon your actions,
Keep them always straight and true.
Rid your mind of selfish motives,
Let your thoughts be clean and high.
You can make a little Eden
Of the sphere you occupy.

Do you wish the World were wiser?
Then suppose you make a start,

By accumulating wisdom
In the scrap book of your heart.
Do not waste one page on folly;
Live to learn and learn to live.
If you want to give men knowledge
You must get it ere you give.

Do you wish the World were happy?
Then remember day by day,

Just to scatter seeds of kindness,
As you pass along the way.
For the pleasures of the many,
May be oft times traced to one.
As the hand that plants an acorn,
Shelters armies from the sun.

Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message. I hope you all had a great weekend filled with fun and relaxation. I was thinking this past week how truly blessed I am to know all the people that have touched my life. I have been so fortunate in my life to be surrounded by wonderful people that honestly care about me. The road has not always been easy. The sun has not always been shinning. The wind has not always been at my back. One thing I can say for sure is that I have had great opportunity and I have worked tremendously hard. I have learned many things over the years and the one I think we all forget from time to time is be grateful for what we already have and the people in our lives.

I wake up each and every day and I think to myself, "Where would I be if these people were not in my life?" Where would I be if I didn't have them to lean on and to learn from? Where would I be if I wasn't there for others? I believe that the point of life is not the collection of material things, but rather the collection of moments that help and change others. I am well aware that life sometimes gets in the way. We have tough challenges to deal with. We sometimes get tired and quick tempered. We sometimes care more about ourselves than others. Let us know that is what happens and when it does snap out of it. We hold within each of us the keys to our own happiness. It may seem at times the keys are not working. Keep trying...you're one step closer. The people in your life are there for a reason. Open your eyes and take notice and be thankful and grateful for them each and every day. Thank you to each and every one of you. Let's get up and GO!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

A small boy was walking along a beach at low tide, where countless starfish, having been washed up on the beach, were stranded and doomed to perish. A man watched as the boy picked up individual starfish and took them back into the water.

"I can see you're being very kind," said the watching man, "But there must be thousands of them; it can't possibly make any difference."

Returning from the water's edge, the boy said, "It will for that one." - author unknown

Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message. I hope you all had a great weekend filled with fun and relaxation. This week would be a great week to start taking the bull by the horns. Are there things in your life that you have consistently put off? Are there things in your business that you know you should do, but you keep telling yourself you can do them later? Well, this week is it. Let us get some of those things done and off the list.

You will feel a great sense of satisfaction when you take something that has been on your mind for a long time and get it done. Maybe it's calling a family member you have not spoken to in a while. Maybe it's calling those clients that you have not been in touch with recently to see how they are doing. Maybe its organizing your desk or files. Maybe its helping a friend with something they need to do. Whatever it is that comes to your mind - Get It Done. The more we put things off the more they build up. When we keep doing this the little things become the biggest challenges and then become major problems. Take little bites, but constantly keep chewing!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

The Sin of Omission
by: Margaret E. Sangster

It isn't the thing you do, dear,
It's the thing you leave undone
That gives you a bit of a heartache
At the setting of the sun.
The tender work forgotten,
The letter you did not write,
The flowers you did not send, dear,
Are your haunting ghosts at night.

The stone you might have lifted
Out of a brother's way;
The bit of heart-some counsel
You were hurried too much to say;
The loving touch of the hand, dear,

The gentle, winning tone
Which you had no time nor thought for
With troubles enough of your own.

Those little acts of kindness

So easily out of mind,
Those chances to be angels
Which we poor mortals find~
They come in night and silence,
Each sad, reproachful wraith,
When hope is faint and flagging,
And a chill has fallen on faith.

For life is all too short, dear,
And sorrow is all to great,
To suffer our slow compassion
That tarries until too late:

And it isn't the thing you do, dear,
It's the thing you leave undone
Which gives you a bit of heartache
At the setting of the sun.
