Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! As you are reading this, I am preparing for the 40th Annual RE/MAX Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada that is taking place this week. This will be the twenty-sixth time I have attended in my thirty-one years as a REALTOR®. I can attribute much of my success from attending this annual event…I have built a tremendous referral network by meeting agents from across the world…and I continue to learn and grow as a professional because I attend the fantastic classes and listen to the variety of top-notch speakers who are at the convention each year.

The moment we think we’ve got it all figured out, is the moment we stop being learning-based and I believe education is the key to any successful endeavor. There is always something new to be learned no matter how old you are, or how experienced you may be. As I continue to learn this week, I challenge you to do the same. What class can you sign up for that will make you better at your craft? What book has been sitting on your nightstand waiting to be read? What events are happening nearby that you can attend? Challenge yourself to learn something new. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Self Confidence

Jim worked at a radio station all his life; he was a well-known and famous radio show host. All of his friends and colleges knew him by one feature: if he’s on-air, he is always wearing a suit and a tie. They laughed at him, and asked, “No one ever sees you, why do you dress like that?”

One day Jim was invited to appear on the TV. There was a show dedicated to the oldest radio employees and for the first time the people, who only knew him by his voice, would see him. Before the recording of the show, the director came to Jim and asked “Usually you arrive on time, but today you are 10 minutes late. It’s not horrible, but I’m still interested, why?”

“You see,” Jim answered, “at the last moment when I was already dressed up, I noticed that I don’t have new socks. For the first-time I was invited to the television, and I thought that simply wearing clean sock is not enough. It needs to be in new socks. So I needed to go to the store for socks.”

“But why do you need new socks?” The director was surprised. “You could have come without the socks, because we will be filming you only in close-up, over the waist.”

“You see, to be spotless on-air, I need to feel myself spotless in everything, starting with the shirt and finishing with the pen in my pocket. And if my socks have holes in them, or my shoes are dirty, I’m not spotless anymore.”

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! I heard a saying the other day that has inspired today’s message… “it is important that you are interested, not interesting.” We met people every single day, and every person has a story, and something we can learn from them. But most of the time, we are focused on being interesting, meaning that we want people to notice us or seek us out for whatever reason, especially if we are in business for ourselves. And while we are busy being interesting, we fail to be interested in those around us.

Connecting with another human being on an inspiring level is one of the greatest gifts we can receive, yet many of us hurry past the homeless man on the corner, dismiss the friendly lady at the grocery store, get annoyed with the baby who is screaming in the restaurant…what if this week, instead of being interesting, you decided to become interested? What if you make it a point to ask questions and truly listen, instead of being the one who does all the talking? Get interested; imagine the possibilities. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Thomas Jefferson’s Ten Rules for a Good Life

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Never trouble another for what you can do yourself.
Never spend your money before you have it.
Never buy what you do not want because it is cheap; it will never be dear to you.
Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold.
Never repent of having eaten too little.
Nothing is troublesome that we do willingly.
Don't let the evils which have never happened cost you pain.
Always take things by their smooth handle.
When angry, count to ten before you speak; if very angry, count to one hundred.

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! How about the 59th Annual Grammy Awards show last night? I am in awe of artists who can make music; they have a special ability to reach down into our souls and leave a mark that lasts a lifetime. I am also a bit envious of their no-fear attitudes and their courage to get on a stage to perform for thousands.

What about Adele’s mess-up? It won’t go down in history as an epic fail as some artists have had happen to them, but rather a courageous, beautiful moment that we could all relate to. How many times have you wanted a do-over? How many times have you been honest when you have made a mistake? I think mistakes are not really a “mistake” but rather an opportunity. If we learn from a mistake, then by default it can no longer be a negative. This week, let’s own our mistakes for the gifts that they present to us. There are no mistakes, only opportunities. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

There was an old mule. One day accidentally he fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer has evaluated the situation and thought to himself, that neither the well nor the old mule was worth the efforts to save them. Thus, he decided to haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well.

So, the farmer called his neighbors and together they started to shovel dirt into the well. The old mule was terrified and hysterical in the beginning. But soon one hopeful idea came to his mind – every time when a shovel of dirt landed on his back, he would shake it off and step up!

As the farmer continue to shovel dirt into the well, the mule continued to shake it off and step up. With each shovel of dirt, he got a little closer to the top. After some time, the mule had stepped over the well‘s wall. Although terribly tired, he was the winner, he saved his own life. He decided to face his adversity positively and not to give up, and thus he won.

What seemed to bury him, actually saved him, owing to his confidence and restless efforts.

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.” Napoleon Hill

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! I think this quote sums up last night’s Super Bowl game, and the effort that the Patriots brought in the fourth quarter. Whether you were rooting for them or not, it is an excellent example of refusing to quit. We can apply this quote to many areas of our lives, whether it is in our relationships, our jobs, our health, our goals…the reward is the greatest when we refuse to quit. This week I challenge you to give it all you got…refuse to quit. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

If You Think by Walter D. Wintle

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't!
If you want to win, but think you can't,
It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost;
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will;
It's all in the state of the mind.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger and faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.
