Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Last week I read an article about the five-hour rule, and how some of our most influential entrepreneurs following this concept. After tracking a few of these highly successful people, it was discovered that they each had three things in common. They all made time to read, reflect and experiment. Each of them set one-hour per day to work on one of these three areas; and hence the name the five-hour rule.

There are other concepts being practiced, such as the Miracle Morning or the 4-Hour Work Week – but the one theme that is true for any book you read, or any successful person you study – they are consistent with their daily habits. Starting your day with something that inspires you, and gets you in alignment with your goals is a must if you want to live the life of your dreams. This week, I challenge you carve out an hour of your day to work on you: daydream, read, experiment, reflect, meditate/pray – and at the end of the week, I’d love to hear how it made a difference. Let’s make it a great week!

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Today marks the first day of spring, and that means warmer weather and longer days are ahead. It has always been an important day for farmers, as it signifies the beginning of the season. Here in the Valley of the Sun, the desert floor is in full bloom; it is magical how it transforms into a wonderland of vibrant colors that we only see during the spring.

This time of year, represents a renewal to the world around us, and a time for planting new ideas. For those of us who start out the new year with a long list of resolutions, this is a great time to reflect, refocus and recommit. What new ideas do you have waiting to blossom? Spring is the perfect time to let them come to life. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Believe the Impossible

Every great achievement was once impossible until someone set a goal to make it a reality.

Lewis Carroll's famous masterpiece Through the Looking Glass contains a story that exemplifies the need to dream the impossible dream. There is a conversation between Alice and the queen, which goes like this:

"I can't believe that!" said Alice.

"Can't you?" the queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again, draw a long breath, and shut your eyes."

Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things."

"I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

When you dare to dream, many marvels can be accomplished. The trouble is, most people never start dreaming their impossible dream.

WORDS OF INSPIRATION

“The air is like a butterfly, with frail blue wings. The happy earth looks at the sky and sings.” Joyce Kilmer, Spring

“Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'” - Robin Williams

“I believe in process. I believe in four seasons. I believe that winter's tough, but spring's coming. I believe that there's a growing season. And I think that you realize that in life, you grow. You get better.” - Steve Southerland

“The spring wakes us, nurtures us and revitalizes us. How often does your spring come? If you are a prisoner of the calendar, it comes once a year. If you are creating authentic power, it comes frequently, or very frequently.” - Gary Zukav

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Hard to believe we are already near the end of the first quarter of 2017, and the real estate market is moving in the direction that was predicted for this year. Our selling season has begun, and monthly sales volumes are up 12 percent on average over the last six months.

As a REALTOR® for over thirty years, part of my job is staying informed regarding property values, and local trends that might impact the market. The only way I can inform potential home buyers and sellers, is by studying the data and analyzing the information that is available to me through varies industry tools. A good REALTOR® becomes a master at pricing homes. But mastery does not come over night; it requires constant review and study to stay sharp.

Is there something in your life that you would like to master? Or is there something in your life that you really should master but have been avoiding it or only putting in half the effort? Bruce Lee was quoted as saying, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” What in your life deserves the attention of 10,000 kicks to ensure you are the best-of-the-best? Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

The Art of Mastery

“Think of it this way: There are two kinds of failure. The first comes from never trying out your ideas because you are afraid, or because you are waiting for the perfect time. This kind of failure you can never learn from, and such timidity will destroy you. The second kind comes from a bold and venturesome spirit. If you fail in this way, the hit that you take to your reputation is greatly outweighed by what you learn. Repeated failure will toughen your spirit and show you with absolute clarity how things must be done.” ― Robert GreeneMastery

WORDS OF INSPIRATION

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.”- Mark Twain

“The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions.” - Alfred Lord Tennyson

“Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.” - Albert Einstein

“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.” - Lao Tzu

“A man who is master of himself can end a sorrow as easily as he can invent a pleasure. I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” – Oscar Wilde

Nate's Monday Morning Message

“Never interrupt someone doing what you said couldn't be done.” - Amelia Earhart

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Have you ever been told you couldn’t do something? I have, many times. I had a choice in those moments; to surrender to the naysayers, or charge forward without looking back. What do you think worked out better?

If we listened to all the times we were told we couldn’t do something, the world would be a very different place. Think about the advancements we have made in medicine and technology alone and we can see the importance in trying something new, despite the possibility of failure. We have a choice. To be courageous and dream big, or fall back and agree to live with mediocrity. The choice is yours. What will you choose? Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Ten Million Dollars in Training

A young, newly appointed manager at IBM made a deal in which the company lost ten million dollars. When he realized the mistake, it was too late, the money was gone.

The next day, he came into the office, racked with guilt. He did not want to wait for leadership to find out and say something to him first. He went to them and said, “I understand you can fire me, and admitting my guilt I accepted your decision.”

“Fire you?” they asked. “We have just spent ten million dollars on your training. We will not throw out such valuable human resources. Go to work!”

WORDS OF INSPIRATION

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” - Steve Jobs

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” - Muhammad Ali

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” - Henry Ford

“There are two great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why.” - William Barclay

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” - Maya Angelou
