For the first time in 2014, March saw home sales increase over the previous month. While sales were 10.1 percent below the levels of one year ago, they rose a significant 24.6 percent higher than February sales. Every one of the 52 metro areas surveyed for the March RE/MAX National Housing Report saw an increase in sales over February. The median price of homes sold in March was 8.8 percent higher than the median price in March 2013.

“Clearly, unexpected winter storms resulted in a slow start for housing this year, but the strong rebound in March sales could build momentum for spring and summer. Many potential homebuyers who weren’t able to get out and tour homes in January and February may still enter the market and impact sales in the next few months.” Margaret Kelly, RE/MAX CEO.

A continuing low inventory of homes for sale has pressured prices to rise, especially in markets that have experienced an accelerated recovery. On a year-to-year basis, March became the 12th consecutive month with fewer inventory losses than the previous month. At the rate of sales in March, the Months Supply of inventory fell to 4.1, where a supply of 6.0 indicates a market balanced equally between buyers and sellers. Welcome to this edition of Nate's Monday Morning Message. This week I want to talk to you about persistence. We have focused on getting a plan together and putting action steps in place to reach our personal and business goals. That's the easy part! The challenge of doing anything worthwhile is being able to do what is necessary over and over and not giving up. This is the part that we must all focus on. Let’s put a plan together, action steps to achieve that plan, and let us all have the persistence to continuously work the plan day in and day out. This is what will get us to where we need to be...this is all we need to do to achieve big dreams!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Growing Good Corn

There once was a farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.

"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir," said the farmer," didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."

He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also improves.

So it is with our lives. Those who choose to live in peace must help their neighbors to live in peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

The lesson for each of us is this: if we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn.

It may not be their dream, but if it is yours then go for it and give it your all. Obstacles and challenges will get in the way. People will try to throw you off or hold you back. It will not always go as planned. Be strong enough to stand up for what you believe and fight with all the might and vigor you can muster. If you want it bad enough then go for it. Burn the bridge and go all in. Make life what you want it to be. In the end it’s yours to make with it what you want. Dream Big - Work Hard - Help Others - Be Happy. Now, Let's Get Up and Go!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER…

There was once a boy who wanted to seek the secret of success. One day he approached a wise man living up in the mountain. When he found the wise man at the hut, he asked "Wise man, can you tell me the secret to becoming successful in life?" The wise man was silent for a bit. After a moment, the wise man led the boy down to the river. They kept walking into the river until the boy was fully submerged in the water. The boy struggled and the wise man did not help him. The wise man held his head under the water. After a while, the wise man pulled the boy out of the water and headed back up to the mountain. At the hut the wise man asked the boy what he desired most when his head was submerged in the water. To this the boy quickly responded, "Of course, I wanted to breathe, you old fool!" To which the wise man replied, "Son, if you desire success as much as you wanted to breathe, then you would have found the true secret of success."

Success is a matter of choice. If we have enough strong reasons, there is nothing we cannot do. Once we have the reasons we will surely find the way to do it.
