RE/MAX National Housing Report June 2013

by Nate Martinez

RE/MAX National Housing Report June 2013

In May, both home sales and home prices rose at double digit rates above levels seen in May last year. Sales increased by 11.6% and the Median Price by 10.8%. May marks the 4th month in a row that home sales and prices have risen higher than the previous month and higher than the same month last year. The data suggests that the housing recovery that began early last year is gaining momentum in 2013. Reduced inventory continues to be a concern, although for May and April month-to-month changes have shown signs of stabilization.

The RE/MAX National Housing Report, a summary of MLS data from 52 metropolitan areas, also found that the number of homes for sale in May was nearly unchanged from April, but still lower than last year by a significant 26.4%. The corresponding Months Supply in May was a low 3.5, a clear indication of a sellers’ market. The result of low supply and high demand is rising prices and a low average Days on Market, just 70 in May. As home prices rise, millions of homeowners gain positive equity. With a brighter financial outlook, many will feel comfortable selling their homes and the inventory shortage should be greatly reduced.

“After a few years of disappointing data, we are so pleased that a housing recovery is finally in full swing. The month of May continues the trend we’ve been seeing in 2013, steady and consistent growth,” said Margaret Kelly, CEO of RE/MAX, LLC. “Last year was the year of the housing turn-around and this year represent a start on the road to sustainability.” Click here to view the full National Housing Report from RE/MAX

Regardless of where you are today, you have the ability to help others. Make a small or large donation to a great cause within your community. There are countless ways that you can make a difference all you need to do is find yours. A truly successful life is not judged solely on the accomplishments of one, but rather the affect it had on many. Choose to live the life of your dreams. Make each and every day count. Strive to leave a lasting legacy and inspire those around you to do more or to do better. I have seen the amazing power that an individual can make and I have seen the truly remarkable differences groups of like minded people can achieve. Decide to make a difference today. Let's Make This The Best Week Of The Year!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Leaders Vs. Followers

When leaders make a mistake, they say, “I was wrong.” When followers make a mistake, they say, “It wasn’t my fault.”

A leader works harder than a follower works, yet has more time; a follower is always “too busy” to do what is necessary.

A leader goes through problems and resolves them; a follower goes around problems but never gets past them.

A leader makes and keeps commitments; a follower makes and forgets promises.

A leader says, “I’m good, but not as good as I ought to be”; a follower says, “I’m not as bad as a lot of other people.”

Leaders listen; followers wait until it’s their turn to talk.

Leaders respect those who are superior to them and try to learn from them; followers resent those who are superior to them and try to avoid them.

Leaders feel responsible for more than their job; followers say, “That’s not my job.”

Leaders say, “There may to be a better way to do this”; followers say, “That’s the way it’s always been done around here.” —Author Unknown

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

The Crazy Dog

Once a wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet Dachshund dog along for company.

One day, the Dachshund starts chasing the butterflies and before long the Dachshund discovers that he is lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch.

The Dachshund thinks, "I'm in deep trouble now! Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the Dachshund exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here."

Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees. "Whew," says the leopard. "That was close. That Dachshund! Nearly had me."

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes. But the Dachshund sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up.

The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine."

Now the Dachshund sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks "What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet... and just when they get close enough to hear,
the Dachshund says........ ......... .....

"Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard."

Moral: It doesn't matter what cards you hold but how you play them!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Fate Is in Your Own Hands

Once upon a time, there was a general who was leading his army into battle against an enemy ten times the size of his own. Along the way to the battle field, the troops stopped by a small temple to pray for victory.

The general held up a coin and told his troops, "I am going to implore the gods to help us crush our enemy. If this coin lands with the heads on top, we'll win. If it's tails, we'll lose. Our fate is in the hands of the gods.

Let's pray wholeheartedly." After a short prayer, the general tossed the coin. It landed with the heads on top.

The troops were overjoyed and went into the battle with high spirit.

Just as predicted, the smaller army won the battle. The soldiers were exalted, "It's good to have the gods on our side! No one can change what they have determined."

"Really?" The general show them the coin--both sides of it were heads.
