Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate's Monday Morning Message. I hope that you all enjoyed the weekend and made it productive and fun. One of the most important things we can do to grow and become better is to expand our comfort zone. Let us start today.

Each time you step out of your comfort zone, you are turning the unknown into the known. You are learning new things about life and about yourself. You are giving yourself new opportunities for growth. The more you step out of your comfort zone, the more you will be confident in taking those steps. This will create a great feeling that will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone more often. Let us understand that we must be uncomfortable to eventually be truly comfortable.

20 Reasons Why Smart People Fail...

1.)  Lack of motivation. A talent is irrelevant if a person is not motivated to use it. Motivation may be external (for example, social approval) or internal (satisfaction from a job well-done, for instance). External sources tend to be transient, while internal sources tend to produce more consistent performance.

2.) Lack of impulse control. Habitual impulsiveness gets in the way of optimal performance. Some people do not bring their full intellectual resources to bear on a problem but go with the first solution that pops into their heads.

3.) Lack of perseverance and preservation. Some people give up too easily, while others are unable to stop even when the quest will clearly be fruitless.

4.) Using the wrong abilities. People may not be using the right abilities for the tasks in which they are engaged.

5.) Inability to translate thought into action. Some people seem buried in thought. They have good ideas but rarely seem able to do anything about them.

6.) Lack of product orientation. Some people seem more concerned about the process than the result of activity.

7.) Inability to complete tasks. For some people nothing ever draws to a close. Perhaps it’s fear of what they would do next or fear of becoming hopelessly enmeshed in detail.

8.) Failure to initiate. Still others are unwilling or unable to initiate a project. It may be indecision or fear of commitment.

9.) Fear of failure. People may not reach peak performance because they avoid the really important challenges in life.

10.) Procrastination. Some people are unable to act without pressure. They may also look for little things to do in order to put off the big ones.

11.) Mis-attribution of blame. Some people always blame themselves for even the slightest mishap. Some always blame others.

12.) Excessive self-pity. Some people spend more time feeling sorry for themselves than expending the effort necessary to overcome the problem.

13.) Excessive dependency. Some people expect others to do for them what they ought to be doing themselves.

14.) Wallowing in personal difficulties. Some people let their personal difficulties interfere grossly with their work. During the course of life, one can expect some real joys and some real sorrows. Maintaining a proper perspective is often difficult.

15.) Distractions and lack of concentration. Even some very intelligent people have very short attention spans.

16.) Spreading oneself too thin or too thick. Undertaking too many activities may result in none being completed on time. Undertaking too few can also result in missed opportunities and reduced levels of accomplishment.

17.) Inability to delay gratification. Some people reward themselves and are rewarded by others for finishing small tasks, while avoiding bigger tasks that would earn them larger rewards.

18.) Inability to see the forest for the trees. Some people become obsessed with details and are either unwilling or unable to see or deal with the larger picture in the projects they undertake.

19.) Lack of balance between critical, analytical thinking and creative, synthetic thinking. It is important for people to learn what kind of thinking is expected of them in each situation.

20.) Too little or too much self-confidence. Lack of self-confidence can gnaw away at a person’s ability to get things done and become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Conversely, individuals with too much self-confidence may not know when to admit they are wrong or in need of self-improvement.

“The important thing is not being afraid to take a chance. Remember, the greatest failure is to not try. Once you find something you love to do, be the best at doing it.” – Debbi Fields

“Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.” – Richard Branson

“The only limits are, as always, those of vision.” – James Broughton

“The competitor to be feared is one who never bothers about you at all, but goes on making his own business better all the time.” – Henry Ford

“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.” – Vince Lombardi

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” – Charles Darwin

“You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don’t do too many things wrong.” – Warren Buffett

“You must either modify your dreams or magnify your skills.” – Jim Rohn

Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate's Monday Morning Message. I hope you had a fantastic weekend filled with lots of fun and relaxation. I know that some days are much harder than others. I know that there are some days we wish we had back so we could either do a little more or do things a little differently. I know that we wish some days would just end.

Please keep in mind that we only have so many days. We can not give ourselves more, but what we do with them is completely up to us. You will face challenges and obstacles, but you can also face success and happiness. Most of the time they are all present at the same time. Live each day with a sense of excitement and each moment with a feeling of thankfulness. You are what you make yourself to be, and your success is yours to make. Have some fun and make sure you hold on long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

The Workings of a Successful Mind by Devin McMillan,

The powers of the mind are not fixed
and science can never explain
What makes a person a success
yet leaves another so mundane.

For whatever the mind can conceive
with enough thought it will deliver.
There is no goal too extreme
when your mind is a benevolent giver.

Take risks in your daily life
or you can conform like the rest
Since rewards are only granted to
those who have passed this test.

Know that you have the power
to succeed in numerous ways
Or you can play it safe
being mediocre for all of your days.

So keep positive in all you do
wielding your list of goals in hand
Fear not what others say
just focus on your plan.

Enjoy every breath that passes
and every task there is to do
Since your actions will only play
the goals you have placed in cue.

And always remember to gift
a little of everything you make
For life is defined by giving
and never by what you take.

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message. I hope that each of you had a wonderful weekend and found a few minutes to really enjoy and have some fun.  We are constantly working on improving ourselves and our situations. We all try to make things better each and every day in big ways and in small ways. The challenge becomes the consistency of doing it. Like many things in life they get harder to do over time and we need to dig deeper and deeper to find the strength and determination to succeed. What it comes down to is passion!

Do you have the passion to achieve the goal that you are working towards? Do you have the passion to put up with the bad with the hope that the good will be so very worth it? You must find your passion in everything you do. It is a mindset and it can be created over and over and over if you desire the end result bad enough. Passion is the gas that runs your engine. We all need gas, but we all have different kinds. We do not all have the same passion even if we are trying to achieve the same end result. Find yours and put it to work.

Life Passion

L- love: Your passion is something you love to do.

F- fulfilling: Your passion gives you a sense of fulfillment.

E- empowering: Your passion usually empowers and energizes you.

S- service: Your passion will usually provide a service or fulfill a need.

S- spiritual: Your passion and its pursuit represents an area of spiritual growth.

I- inspiring: Your passion is inspiring to you and therefore will inspire others too.

O- obvious: Your passion, once found, is usually something obvious to you.

N- natural: Your passion is often unstudied and comes naturally to you.

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message. I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Happy Labor Day, to all of my friends who work hard each day doing all the things that need to be done.  I am reminded regularly that life is not about how many hours we put in or how much money we may make, but rather the true difference we have on people's lives.  We must always remember why it is that we do what we do. We must always remember every time we choose to do something we are giving up the chance to do something else.

We must always remember that time will pass by regardless of what we do or want. Let us leave the baggage of frustration, anger, sadness, hurt, loneliness, or disappointment in the past. We must move forward and we must become better each and every day. We should look at the people around us and ask ourselves if we are we making a difference in their lives. Are we making a difference in our own? I hope you all focus on the differences you can make, because the rest will follow if you do.

The 5 Minute Rule

When you are about to abandon a task because you’ve had enough or feel you aren’t getting any where or are just bored then try applying the “5 Minute Rule”. Say to yourself I will stick at it for just 5 minutes more and then I can give up or take a break.

At the worst you get 5 minutes work done and at the best you will have found a second wind, got focused and become productive. Of course what you are aiming for is to move into The Zone when suddenly work becomes effortless, the words just flow, the paperwork gets dealt with, you make that call you’ve been dreading, nothing seems a problem. But imagine if you hadn’t applied the five-minute trick you might have never got there you might have gone and switched the television on and watched a replay of the ball-game!

You can use the 5-minute-more trick in the Gym as well or when doing jobs in the house. I actually hear my lazy inner-self thinking up excellent reasons why I should abandon my endeavor, you’ve had a long day, mustn’t tire myself out for tomorrow, it’s too cold or hot or windy and the most crafty one shouldn’t you be doing another task altogether.

Remember the other 5 minute rule that we often want to give up a task after just 5 minutes, 5 minutes into writing an essay or starting a run that’s the danger time before we’ve warmed to the task before we see any progress, you can use the five-minute rule to help you through this discouraging phase.

Go on, do five minutes more…
