Daylight Savings Starts Sunday

Daylight Savings Spring 2011

On Sunday, March 13th, 2011 Daylight savings will begin for this year. Although in Arizona we don't physically change time, we do change time zones. What does that mean? Well simply put, we will be the same time as places like California, Oregon, Washington...Or in other words, we will be on the Pacific time zone. From March until November, Arizona will be one hour ahead of states located in the Mountain Zone (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming), 2 hours ahead of states located in the Central time zone (Kansas, Texas, Illinois) and 3 hours ahead of states located in the Eastern time zone (New York, Kentucky, Florida).

QR Codes: changing the way you get information

What is a QR Code?

  

 

A QR code is a specific matrix consisting of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, a URL or other data. A QR barcode can be read by a dedicated barcode reader or an application which can easily be downloaded on most SMART phones.

The QR code was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994 in Japan. QR is short for "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its content to be decoded at high speed.

As you may have noticed, many companies are using QR codes in tv commericals and magazines. Why should our team be any different? We are now using QR codes to deliver high speed real estate information to you! Look for unique barcodes on marketing materials and advertising to get the most current, accurate data available.

Wags for Wishes Benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Approximately 800 dogs are expected to help grant the wish of sick kids this weekend at the 4th annual Wags for Wishes event in Chandler. The proceeds from the festival will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "This event is about dogs raising money for kids," Director Wendy Hultsman said. "Its not a ball or a gala, its a philanthropic event that our clients (sick children) can participate in."

About $60,000 has been raised during the past 3 Wagsfor Wishes events. This year the event has been moved to Rawhide in Chandler where they hope to raise $30,000 with the larger space. Wish-granting costs an average of $7,000 per child and the money raised at Wags for Wishes is only used for grants.

The weekend event is part competition, part festival. The admission is $5.00 and goes towards the cause. Visitors are welcome to bring their 4 legged friends to try activities like racing in Lure For A Cure, splash jumping off a dock, or try a musical freestyle frisbee routine. The American Kennel Club will be there too, to test your pups Canine Good Citizens skills to see if they have what it takes to be a therapy dog.

First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended

You may have heard the exciting news that the First Time Homebuyer $8,000 Tax Credit has been extended.  This will prove to be great news for thousands of Maricopa County, Arizona homebuyers and many existing homeowners who qualify for this financial incentive.  I asked national real estate expert David Knox to help me explain the benefits of this extended and revised tax credit.  In order for you to take advantage of this incentive you will need to buy and close your transaction before the tax credit deadline.
