Andrea Santa Maria's Story Continued...

Thank you all for taking the time to read the story about my niece Andrea Santa Maria – in a 24 hour period of time, this blog has had more hits than any other story or information I have posted! So I thank you for all your support and the out-pour of help we have received so far. However, this is just the beginning for Andrea…

To date, her family has been in contact with ACDL (Arizona Center for Disability Law) and advised to file an OCR (Office of Civil Rights) complaint, due to the School/District violating Section 504. The high school is not making things any easier and my niece is in desperate need of a legal counsel. Based on what they have been told by the ACDL, there are three very important eliminates to Andrea’s case – one is discrimination, intimidation and retaliation. They have an appointment with an attorney today to determine how strong of a case Andrea has, but all of this is going to cost money. Unfortunately, attorneys who specialize in disability cases are few and far between and the ones that do practice in Arizona are incredibly expensive.

To add to the stress of the situation, Andrea is now in need of a very complex medical glucagon test. From what her Doctor has indicated, this extensive test runs about $3000.00. Andrea would have to be admitted into Phoenix Children's Hospital, so that $3,000.00 does not even cover the hospital costs. The family still does not have any health insurance, although they have applied for ALTCS (Arizona Long Term Care System), the application process is long and arduous. After multiple phone calls and voice mails, Andrea’s mother has been told there is nothing she can do to push the application along faster, nor can they give her any clue whether or not the application will be approved or denied.

As you can imagine, my niece and her family are physically and emotionally drained. Andrea is due to graduate high school on May 25th– a day that is suppose to be a milestone in a young person’s life has turned into a very sad, unfortunate turn of events which could have been prevented if the school district had tested Andrea properly from the beginning. It is our hope that by sharing Andrea’s story we can change the laws where Special Education needs are concerned, if not more.

Daylight Savings Starts Sunday

Daylight Savings Spring 2011

On Sunday, March 13th, 2011 Daylight savings will begin for this year. Although in Arizona we don't physically change time, we do change time zones. What does that mean? Well simply put, we will be the same time as places like California, Oregon, Washington...Or in other words, we will be on the Pacific time zone. From March until November, Arizona will be one hour ahead of states located in the Mountain Zone (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming), 2 hours ahead of states located in the Central time zone (Kansas, Texas, Illinois) and 3 hours ahead of states located in the Eastern time zone (New York, Kentucky, Florida).

QR Codes: changing the way you get information

What is a QR Code?



A QR code is a specific matrix consisting of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, a URL or other data. A QR barcode can be read by a dedicated barcode reader or an application which can easily be downloaded on most SMART phones.

The QR code was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994 in Japan. QR is short for "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its content to be decoded at high speed.

As you may have noticed, many companies are using QR codes in tv commericals and magazines. Why should our team be any different? We are now using QR codes to deliver high speed real estate information to you! Look for unique barcodes on marketing materials and advertising to get the most current, accurate data available.


Luxury Home Market Heats Up In The Northwest Valley!

If you haven't noticed by now, the luxury home market is heating up in the Northwest Valley. I recently hired a pilot to fly myself and a developer I am working with, around the northwest valley. I was amazed by the amount of 10,000+ square foot homes either already built or under construction! My developer will be breaking ground on approximately 4 custom home sites between the $1.5 to $2 million. These mountainside home sites are located in the beautiful gated community of Estates of Westwing Mountain. I also have 2 custom home sites listed in the Estates of Westwing Mountain ranging between $550-650,000. I have I am excited to be marketing this project and if you or someone you know is interesting in learning more about owning one of these distinguished homes, please call me today. We also have custom home sites available in Vistancia's gated community, Blackstone Country Club, ranging between $475,000 to a $1 million. In the far west community of Verrado, I also have a mountainside custom home site (1.82 acre) for sale priced at $600,000.

All three communities I have talked about here today have several sales over $1 million.
