Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“Unity is strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” - Mattie Stepanek

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…at one point in all our lives, we have had to work with others, whether it was an organized group, sports or even working together with members of our family. Some people think they work better alone, while others are great at collaborating and seek out people to help them. No matter who you are, how much money you make, or don’t make, rich or famous, young or old…at some point we all need to ask for help, which will require a form of teamwork.

As a recovering control freak, I have had to learn how to ask for help as I have grown my business. In the beginning though, I thought I was the only one who could put up a sign, or take a photo…or perhaps I should say, I was the only one who could do it the best way. However, I realized I was never going to get to the level I wanted without asking for help. Today, I am surrounded by a great team, and I have come to learn that when asked, people are more than happy to help. We assume we are bothering someone or putting them out before we even ask for help. I know it isn’t easy, and it takes swallowing your pride but the people around you are more than happy to support you, when given the opportunity. So this week, let’s make it a goal…identify an area in your life, or a task you need help with, then ask. You can do it – let’s make it a great week!

The Very Old Lady

A very old lady looked in the mirror one morning. She had three remaining hairs on her head, and being a positive soul, she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today." So she braided her three hairs, and she had a great day.

Some days later, looking in the mirror one morning, preparing for her day, she saw that she had only two hairs remaining. "Hmm, two hairs... I fancy a center parting today." She duly parted her two hairs, and as ever, she had a great day.

A week or so later, she saw that she had just one hair left on her head. "One hair huh...," she mused, "I know, a pony-tail will be perfect." And again she had a great day.

The next morning she looked in the mirror. She was completely bald.

"Finally bald huh," she said to herself, "How wonderful! I won't have to waste time doing my hair anymore."
