Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.” - Robert H. Schuller

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…spring is in the air or perhaps in Phoenix we should call it the beginning of the pool weather temperatures! While we may not have a traditional spring season here in the Valley of the Sun, we can still celebrate the symbolism of spring.

The spring season represents a rebirth, or a time to start something new…just like the crops that go dormant in the winter months, we too can spring forth a new, healthier, stronger version of ourselves. What goals did you set for yourself at the New Year which need to be adjusted, revisited, or perhaps started again? What areas of your life to do you want to breathe some fresh spring air into? Let’s make it a great week!

It Couldn’t be Done, by Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That maybe it couldn't, but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so "till he tried."
So he buckled right in with the
trace of a grin on his face.
If he worried, he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it."
But he took off his coat and took off his hat
And the first thing he knew he'd begun it.
With the lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,
Then take off your coat and go to it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
That cannot be done, and you'll do it.

“The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.” - Harriet Ann Jacobs

“Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'” - Robin Williams

“No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.” - Hal Borland

“Earth teach me to forget myself as melted snow forgets its life. Earth teach me resignation as the leaves which die in the fall. Earth teach me courage as the tree which stands all alone. Earth teach me regeneration as the seed which rises in the spring.” - William Alexander

“We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.” - Gary Zukav
