Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! I heard a saying the other day that has inspired today’s message… “it is important that you are interested, not interesting.” We met people every single day, and every person has a story, and something we can learn from them. But most of the time, we are focused on being interesting, meaning that we want people to notice us or seek us out for whatever reason, especially if we are in business for ourselves. And while we are busy being interesting, we fail to be interested in those around us.

Connecting with another human being on an inspiring level is one of the greatest gifts we can receive, yet many of us hurry past the homeless man on the corner, dismiss the friendly lady at the grocery store, get annoyed with the baby who is screaming in the restaurant…what if this week, instead of being interesting, you decided to become interested? What if you make it a point to ask questions and truly listen, instead of being the one who does all the talking? Get interested; imagine the possibilities. Let’s make it a great week!

Thomas Jefferson’s Ten Rules for a Good Life

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Never trouble another for what you can do yourself.
Never spend your money before you have it.
Never buy what you do not want because it is cheap; it will never be dear to you.
Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold.
Never repent of having eaten too little.
Nothing is troublesome that we do willingly.
Don't let the evils which have never happened cost you pain.
Always take things by their smooth handle.
When angry, count to ten before you speak; if very angry, count to one hundred.
