Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate's Monday Message! What is it that we are going to accomplish this week? In order to success at anything we set out to do, we need a plan. We need to be prepared. We need to be determined. We need to have a great attitude. You can accomplish whatever it is that you choose to accomplish! Make this the week you do something big. You can and you should; the time is now. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

The Rocks and Sand Experiment

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The students laughed. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. "Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.”

“The sand is everything else. The small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.”

Nate’s Monday Morning Message 

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate's Monday Message! Today I want to write about persistence. The challenge of doing anything meaningful in life, is being able to do what is necessary over and over and not giving up, even with it gets hard. This is the part that we must focus on daily. A plan without action is worthless. We need enough persistence to continuously work the plan day-in and day-out. Persistence will get us to where we want to be…and what need to achieve a big dream. Let’s make it a great week!

Growing Good Corn, Author Unknown

There once was a farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.

"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir," said the farmer," didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."

He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also improves.

So it is with our lives. Those who choose to live in peace must help their neighbors to live in peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

The lesson for each of us is this: if we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn.

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate's Monday Message…I am going to keep this email short and sweet this week! We are almost through the first quarter of 2019. How are you doing with your goals? Are you working a plan to achieve them? We’ve got to work a little harder than the competition, innovate, create and then level up. But remember to smile and have fun, be caring and compassionate, and make a difference. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Just for Today!

1.   Just for today I will be happy.  This assumes that what Abraham Lincoln said is true, that "most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." Happiness is from within; it is not a matter of externals.

2.   Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my family, my business, and my luck as they come and fit myself to them.

3.   Just for today I will take care of my body. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse nor neglect it, so that it will be a perfect machine for my bidding.

4.   Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

5.   Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways; I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do as William James suggests, just for exercise.

6.   Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, talk low, act courteously, be liberal with praise, criticize not at all, nor fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone.

7.   Just for today I will try to live through this day only, not to tackle my whole life problem at once.  I can do things for twelve hours that would appall me if I had to keep them up for a lifetime.

8.  Just for today I will have a program. I will write down what I expect to do every hour.  I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it.  It will eliminate two pests, hurry and indecision.

9.   Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself and relax. In this half hour sometimes I will think of God, so as to get a little more perspective into my life.

10.   Just for today I will be unafraid, especially I will not be afraid to be happy, to enjoy what is beautiful, to love, and to believe that those I love, love me.

If we want to develop a mental attitude that will bring us peace and happiness, here is rule # 1: Think and act cheerfully, and you will feel cheerful.

Today, I want to talk to you about fairness and understanding. Many of us heard as children that "life just is not fair." I am not sure that I agree, because you see life is what you make of it, and fairness is subjective. We all know people who are deliberate, thoughtful, and fair. We also know people who are non-deliberate, non-thoughtful and not very fair.

I would encourage you to take a look at yourself and ask if you are deliberate, thoughtful, and fair. Regardless of what life has done for you up until today, the future is a clean canvas and you are the painter. Make wise choices and be fair and understanding. Life will bring back to you what you give to others. Let’s make it a great week!

RE/MAX R4 Convention Makes an Invaluable Impact on RE/MAX Professionals  

Last week the Nate Martinez Team had the pleasure of attending the RE/MAX R4 Convention in beautiful Las Vegas. The RE/MAX R4 Convention is not only a fantastic networking and educational opportunity for agents, it’s also a time to celebrate the incredible talent and larger-than-life personalities of the RE/MAX network! RE/MAX R4 has been a diverse blend of networking and educational opportunities for all attendees and there were some unforgettable experiences at the event that brought in more than 6,000 energized RE/MAX Affiliates from over sixty countries!

RE/MAX Awards recognized achievements of Affiliates during the previous calendar year, as well as their continuous commitment to clients. This annual convention focuses on delivering more value to agents and brokers through tools, training and technology. Recognizing achievements is a core part of the RE/MAX R4 Convention – and celebrating top-producing teams is no exception.  The Nate Martinez Team was honored to be a part of the RE/MAX Diamond Club – an award that recognizes associates who have earned $1 million or more in gross commissions.

She shared a story not only of medical hardship, but of dedication to the mission of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and raising funds and awareness for others. RE/MAX Professionals and the Nate Martinez Team are proud contributors of Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Last year we exceeded our fundraising goal of $10,000 and helped raise $17597.30 which went directly to the hospital!

The Nate Martinez Team has been proudly serving the Valley of the Sun for over thirty years and look forward to continuing the RE/MAX culture of caring and service to our clients in 2019!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate's Monday Message! Life is all about taking chances and going for your dreams. Don't let anyone hold you back! It may not be their dream, but if it is yours then go for it and give it your all. Obstacles and challenges will get in the way. People will try to throw you off or hold you back. It will not always go as planned. But you must be strong enough to stand up for what you believe and fight with all the might and vigor you can muster! If you want it bad enough then go for it. Burn the bridge and go all in. Make life what you want it to be. In the end it’s yours to make with it what you want. Dream big…work hard…help others…be happy. Let’s make it a great week!

There was once a boy who wanted to seek the secret of success. One day he approached a wise man living up in the mountain. When he found the wise man at the hut, he asked "Wise man, can you tell me the secret to becoming successful in life?" The wise man was silent for a bit. After a moment, the wise man led the boy down to the river. They kept walking into the river until the boy was fully submerged in the water. The boy struggled and the wise man did not help him. The wise man held his head under the water. After a while, the wise man pulled the boy out of the water and headed back up to the mountain. At the hut the wise man asked the boy what he desired most when his head was submerged in the water. To this the boy quickly responded, "Of course, I wanted to breathe, you old fool!" To which the wise man replied, "Son, if you desire success as much as you wanted to breathe, then you would have found the true secret of success."

Success is a matter of choice. If we have enough strong reasons, there is nothing we cannot do. Once we have the reasons, we will surely find the way to do it.

My Dog Can Walk on Water

There was a hunter who came into the possession of a special bird dog. The dog was the only one of its kind, because it can walk on water. One day he invited a friend to go hunting with him so that he could show off his prized possession. After some time, they shot a few ducks, which fell into the river. The man ordered his dog to run and fetch the birds. The dog ran on water to fetch the birds. The man was expecting a compliment about the amazing dog but did not receive it. Being curious, he asked his friend if the friend had noticed anything unusual about the dog. The friend replied, “Yes, I did see something unusual about your dog. Your dog can’t swim!”

Moral of the story: More than 90 percent of the people that we face every day are negative. They choose to look at the hole in the middle rather than the doughnut. Do not expect compliments or encouragement from them. These are the people who cannot pull you out of your present situation. They can only push you down. So be aware of them, spend less time with them, and do not let them steal your dreams away from you.

Just BE THANKFUL 

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to? Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn new things. Be thankful for the difficult times. Those are the times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement. Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons for the future. 

Be thankful when you are tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference. It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
