Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message…every week we have the opportunity to put ourselves in a position to grow. Your thinking and your self-confidence will determine what you can achieve. It starts with your confidence to achieve and that is what you need to focus on now. Free yourself from the barriers you have placed around you and expand your thinking. What can you do just a little better? What do you want to do that you have not yet? This week, let’s get clear on what we want to accomplish and create a plan to do it. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out. Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy. Suddenly an old man appeared before him. ”I can see that something is troubling you,” he said. After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.” He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.” Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come. The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world! “I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought. With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man. “I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller.” And she led the old man away by the arm. The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him. Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around. It was his new-found self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

July 2018 RE/MAX National Housing Report

by Nate Martinez

July 2018 RE/MAX National Housing Report

July home sales rose 1.8 percent year-over-year, making it the second month of 2018 to post a sales increase year-over-year, according to the RE/MAX National Housing Report. To access the housing report infographic, visit: https://rem.ax/2phKHWT.

In the July 2018 report, 37 of the report’s 54 metro areas posted sales increases over July 2017—April was the first month of 2018 where more homes were sold than the same month in 2017. The report also marks the 28th consecutive month of year-over-year price increases.

The Median Sales Price of $250,575 was up 4.4 percent from July 2017, and represents the third-highest price in report history—topped only by May and June of this year. Months Supply of Inventory was at 2.9 – the smallest total ever recorded for July.

Forty-two of the 54 metro areas reported a year-over-year drop in inventory. The Days on Market dropped to 41 – four days less than July 2017 and one day under the previous nine-year low set in June 2018.

“Because we’ve faced challenging inventories and increasing home prices for some time now, a seasonal slowdown that rebalances the market a bit might actually be a positive in the months ahead,” said RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos. “It could level affordability to some extent and create more opportunity for buyers who’ve been priced out of hot markets.”

The average Days on Market for homes sold in July 2018 was 41, down one day from the average in June 2018, and down 4 days from the July 2017 average. The number of homes for sale in July 2018 was down 0.3 percent from June 2018, and down 7.8 percent from July 2017. Based on the rate of home sales in July, the Months Supply of Inventory increased to 2.9 from 2.7 in June 2018, and decreased from 3.1 in July 2017. A 6.0-months supply indicates a market balanced equally between buyers and sellers. In July 2018, all but one of 54 metro areas surveyed reported a months supply at or less than 6.0, which is typically considered a seller’s market.

Nate's Monday Morning Message - Happy Labor Day!

by Nate Martinez

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message…I hope that this email is finding each of you enjoying your hard-earned day off! Labor Day is the sign that summer is coming to an end, school is back in session and the cool temperatures in Arizona are on the horizon. However, this day marks a moment in history where the hardworking men and women who forged the labor movement in the 1800s to ensure our rights in both socially and economically were represented. The rights we enjoy today were fought for many years ago and we have the American workers to thank.

From my family to yours, we want to wish you each a very happy, healthy and safe Labor Day celebration!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

The End of Summer by Rachel Hadas

Sweet smell of phlox drifting across the lawn—

an early warning of the end of summer.

August is fading fast, and by September

the little purple flowers will all be gone.

Season, project, and vacation done.

One more year in everybody’s life.

Add a notch to the old hunting knife

Time keeps testing with a horny thumb.

Over the summer months hung an unspoken

aura of urgency. In late July

galactic pulsings filled the midnight sky

like silent screaming, so that, strangely woken,

we looked at one another in the dark,

then at the milky magical debris

arcing across, dwarfing our meek mortality.

There were two ways to live: get on with work,

redeem the time, ignore the imminence

of cataclysm; or else take it slow,

be as tranquil as the neighbors’ cow

we love to tickle through the barbed wire fence

(she paces through her days in massive innocence,

or, seeing green pastures, we imagine so).

In fact, not being cows, we have no choice.

Summer or winter, country, city, we

are prisoners from the start and automatically,

hemmed in, harangued by the one clamorous voice.

Not light but language shocks us out of sleep

ideas of doom transformed to meteors

we translate back to portents of the wars

looming above the nervous watch we keep.

WORDS OF INSPIRATION

Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message. One of the most important things we can do to grow and become better is to expand our comfort zone. Let us start today!

Each time you step out of your comfort zone, you are turning the unknown into the known. You are learning new things about life and about yourself. You are giving yourself new opportunities for growth. The more you step out of your comfort zone, the more you will be confident in taking those steps. This will create a great feeling that will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone more often. Let us understand that we must be uncomfortable to eventually be truly comfortable. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

20 Reasons Why Smart People Fail

1.)  Lack of motivation. A talent is irrelevant if a person is not motivated to use it. Motivation may be external (for example, social approval) or internal (satisfaction from a job well-done, for instance). External sources tend to be transient, while internal sources tend to produce more consistent performance.

2.) Lack of impulse control. Habitual impulsiveness gets in the way of optimal performance. Some people do not bring their full intellectual resources to bear on a problem but go with the first solution that pops into their heads.

3.) Lack of perseverance and preservation. Some people give up too easily, while others are unable to stop even when the quest will clearly be fruitless.

4.) Using the wrong abilities. People may not be using the right abilities for the tasks in which they are engaged.

5.) Inability to translate thought into action. Some people seem buried in thought. They have good ideas but rarely seem able to do anything about them.

6.) Lack of product orientation. Some people seem more concerned about the process than the result of activity.

7.) Inability to complete tasks. For some people nothing ever draws to a close. Perhaps it’s fear of what they would do next or fear of becoming hopelessly enmeshed in detail.

8.) Failure to initiate. Still others are unwilling or unable to initiate a project. It may be indecision or fear of commitment.

9.) Fear of failure. People may not reach peak performance because they avoid the really important challenges in life.

10.) Procrastination. Some people are unable to act without pressure. They may also look for little things to do in order to put off the big ones.

11.) Mis-attribution of blame. Some people always blame themselves for even the slightest mishap. Some always blame others.

12.) Excessive self-pity. Some people spend more time feeling sorry for themselves than expending the effort necessary to overcome the problem.

13.) Excessive dependency. Some people expect others to do for them what they ought to be doing themselves.

14.) Wallowing in personal difficulties. Some people let their personal difficulties interfere grossly with their work. During the course of life, one can expect some real joys and some real sorrows. Maintaining a proper perspective is often difficult.

15.) Distractions and lack of concentration. Even some very intelligent people have very short attention spans.

16.) Spreading oneself too thin or too thick. Undertaking too many activities may result in none being completed on time. Undertaking too few can also result in missed opportunities and reduced levels of accomplishment.

17.) Inability to delay gratification. Some people reward themselves and are rewarded by others for finishing small tasks, while avoiding bigger tasks that would earn them larger rewards.

18.) Inability to see the forest for the trees. Some people become obsessed with details and are either unwilling or unable to see or deal with the larger picture in the projects they undertake.

19.) Lack of balance between critical, analytical thinking and creative, synthetic thinking. It is important for people to learn what kind of thinking is expected of them in each situation.

20.) Too little or too much self-confidence. Lack of self-confidence can gnaw away at a person’s ability to get things done and become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Conversely, individuals with too much self-confidence may not know when to admit they are wrong or in need of self-improvement.

WORDS OF INSPIRATION

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” - Neale Donald Walsch

“Gritty people train at the edge of their comfort zone. They zero in on one narrow aspect of their performance and set a stretch goal to improve it.” - Angela Duckworth

“The best things in life are often waiting for you at the exit ramp of your comfort zone.” - Karen Salmansohn

RE/MAX Professionals Celebrates August as the Month of Miracles

by Nate Martinez

RE/MAX Professionals Celebrates August as the Month of Miracles

Giving back is a priority in the RE/MAX culture. All over the world, RE/MAX agents make a difference in their communities - volunteering, donating money, contributing time and ultimately changing lives.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) raises funds and awareness for 170-member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care.

We are excited to announce that our offices will be participating in our fourth annual “Month of Miracles” throughout the month of August. This is a month-long fundraising event is designed to raise much-need money to support our local Phoenix Children’s Hospital as well as raise awareness in our community.

“Children’s hospitals depend on local donations — like those from RE/MAX agents participating in Miracle Home and Miracle Property programs — to provide the top-of-class care kids deserve,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “On behalf of the millions of families impacted by RE/MAX donations, we appreciate each agent’s efforts and thank them for truly making miracles happen in their communities all year long.”

Last year our Month of Miracles event raised over $15,000 and our office made a total contribution to Phoenix Children’s Hospital of $44,160.20! We were recognized by RE/MAX LLC for being the highest contributing office in the Southwest Region (Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico) to the Children’s Miracle Network, and our local Phoenix Children's Hospital!

Each donation helps fund pediatric medical equipment, treatments, charitable care and other healthcare services for local CMN hospitals. As the contributions continue to grow, we are able to aid a larger number of sick and injured children – which is something we take great pride in being able to do for our community.

Please help us reach out goal of ONE MILLION PENNIES for the “Month of Miracles” in August, 2018. You can drop by any one of our four offices to participate in our fundraising efforts, or contact the Nate Martinez Team and we will be happy to pick up your donation.

On behalf of all the kids at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, we thank you in advance for your support in helping us achieve this goal for our community!

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP®) recently released its seventh annual Top 250 Latino Agents Report recognizing outstanding Latino real estate agents from around the country. For the fourth year in a row, RE/MAX, the world’s most productive real estate network, led all other brands with the most rankings in the NAHREP Top 250 Latino Agents and Top 100 Latino Real Estate Teams lists. In its seventh year of publication, the annual report honors top-producing participating Latino agents and real estate teams in the U.S. based on 2017 residential transaction sides and volume.

"Hispanics are driving growth in the real estate market at all levels," said Daisy Lopez-Cid, NAHREP President. "It's a privilege for NAHREP to recognize the agents and teams that are making a massive impact in their respective markets and facilitating the dream of homeownership a reality for thousands of families."

Nominations for the Top 250 came from every major market in the nation, with Chicago, El Paso, San Antonio, Las Vegas, and Austin leading the way as the most represented cities on the list. The top 250 agents were selected based on their total transactions and total volume for 2017, verified by NAHREP and other third-party sources. An impressive 75 RE/MAX associates were recognized on the Top 250 list, as ranked by transaction sides and Nate Martinez of RE/MAX Professionals is honored to have made this list ranked at number 42 nationally.

“This year’s NAHREP Top 250 Agents Report includes aggregate sales of more than $4 billion in 2017,” said Mike Reagan, RE/MAX Senior Vice President, Business Alliances. “Hispanic buyers, sellers and real estate professionals are experiencing exceptional growth and influence in our local markets and continue to positively change our industry.
