Nate's Monday Morning Message

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! When I read this quote, I have a vision of a beautiful rose – a perfect shade of deep red and a sweet fragrance that is unique to a blooming rose. However, I know that if I try to pluck the flower I run the risk of sticking my hand with thorns that protect the rose bush. So how does this apply to life? I think it is simple: anything worth pursuing will have challenges to overcome. If you want to enjoy the roses, you have to be willing to navigate the thorns. Let’s make it a great week!

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! Today we are celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day here in Phoenix, Arizona formerly known as Columbus Day. If you are taking the day off, I hope you’ll take a moment to remember those who discovered the lands we now call home.

I also wanted to invite you to a special event we have coming up on November 15th, details below. If you are ready to make a move, but unsure if now is a good time, you won’t want to miss this event! Let’s make it a great week!

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message, and to the beginning of the fall which is the second-best time of year here in Arizona! As our days get shorter and the weather cools off, the fourth quarter is full of opportunity. Don’t put your goals and aspirations on cruise control. There is still plenty of time to buy a home, sell a home, go on a diet before the holidays, apply for a new job, buy a new car…you fill in the blank. There is still plenty of time. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

"Crispy air and azure skies,
High above, a white cloud flies,
Bright as newly fallen snow.
Oh the joy to those who know October!
Colors bright on bush and tree.
Over the weedy swamp, we see
A veil of purple and brown and gold.
Thy beauty words have never told. October!
Scolding sparrows on the lawn,
Rabbits frisking home at dawn,
Pheasants midst the sheaves of grain,
All in harmony acclaim, October!
Brown earth freshly turned by plow,
Apples shine on bended bough,
Bins o'erflowed with oats and wheat,
And satisfaction reigns complete. October!
Radiant joy is everywhere.
Spirits in tune to the spicy air,
Thrill in the glory of each day.
Life's worth living when we say, October!"
-  Joseph Pullman Porter

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! All you need is a plan, a road map or in these days a smart phone with navigation, and the courage to press on to your destination. I like to call this your GPS (goals, plans and strategies). You would not jump in the car, and attempt to drive across the country without having a plan, so why is it that we go about our goals and dreams in such a manner? Your GPS also includes a support system, which is those people in your life who will rally behind you, and those who will show up in the precise moment you need them the most. This week, I challenge you to get clear, refocus, and create your own GPS. There is still time to make 2017 the best year of your life. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Just for Today

Just for today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle all my problems at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Just for today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires, I will take my "luck" as it comes, and fit myself to it.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count. I will do a least two things I don't want to do--just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, keep my voice low, be courteous, criticize not one bit. I won't find fault with anything, nor try to improve or regulate anybody but myself.

Just for today I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself, and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! Cooler temperatures are right around the corner here in the Valley of the Sun, and the gorgeous fall weather is why we bare the extreme heat during the summer months. We can learn a lot from the Arizona weather; just like our passions in life, our goals and dreams, they require sacrifice. The summer heat can be miserable, but we forge on because we know that the reward is some of the best weather in the country. Are you willing to get uncomfortable in order to make the changes you want to see in your life? Are you willing to sacrifice in order to reap the rewards of your hard work? Let’s make it a great week!

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message. It is September 11, or in other words a date that will forever be remembered as one of the greatest tragedies in American history books. While that sunny September day, sixteen years ago was filled with a tremendous loss and heartbreak, it was also filled with acts of courage, bravery, love and selflessness.

I hope you will take a moment to say thank you to the servicemen and women who gave their lives that day, and remember the innocent lives of nearly 3,000 people who died on 9/11/2001. We remember, and may we never forget.

WORDS OF INSPIRATION

“If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.”
—Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

"For me and my family personally, September 11 was a reminder that life is fleeting, impermanent, and uncertain. Therefore, we must make use of every moment and nurture it with affection, tenderness, beauty, creativity, and laughter." —Deepak Chopra

“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.” —former President Harry S. Truman

“September 11, 2001, revealed heroism in ordinary people who might have gone through their lives never called upon to demonstrate the extent of their courage.” —Geraldine Brooks

“One of the worst days in America’s history saw some of the bravest acts in Americans’ history. We’ll always honor the heroes of 9/11. And here at this hallowed place, we pledge that we will never forget their sacrifice.” —President George W. Bush

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” - Pele

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message. Success is no accident. The most successful people we can study fall well within the terms outlined in this powerful quote. Learning, studying and being a master at your craft are essential components. Your commitment to the outcome will help you persevere through the rejection, the obstacles and the temporary set-backs. However, the love you have for what you are doing in life is a must. Don’t settle for a job or career that doesn’t bring your joy or fulfillment. Don’t settle for goals that don’t challenge you. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

One cowardly person came to a master of martial arts and asked to teach him bravery. The master looked at him and said: “I will teach you only with one condition: one month you will have to live in a big city and tell every person that you meet on your way that you are a coward. You will have to say it loudly, openly and looking straight into the person’s eyes.”

The person got really sad, because this task seemed very scary to him. For a couple of days he was very sad and thoughtful, but to live with his cowardice was so unbearable that he travelled to the city to accomplish his mission.

At first, when meeting the passers, he quailed, lost his speech and couldn’t contact anyone. But he needed to finish the master’s task, so he began to overcome himself. When he came up to his first passer to tell about his cowardice, it seemed to him that he would die from fear. But his voice sounded louder and more confident with every passing day.

Suddenly came a moment, when the man caught himself thinking that he’s not scared anymore, and the further he continued doing the master’s task, the more convinced he was that the fear was abandoning him. That way a month had passed. The person came back to the master, bowed to him and said: “Thank you, teacher. I finished your task. Now I’m not afraid anymore. But how did you know that this strange task will help me?”

“The thing is that cowardice is only a habit. And by doing the things that scare us, we can destroy the stereotypes and come to a conclusion that you came to. And now you know that bravery – is also a habit. And if you want to make bravery a part of yourself- you need to move forward into the fear. Then the fear will go away, and bravery will take its place.”
