Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message. Across the state and country, kids and parents are getting back to the school routines, and before we know it the summer temps will be cooling and summer will be officially over. The first days of a new school year are buzzing with excited kids, fresh attitudes and teachers prepared to go above and beyond. As we watch our children learn and grow, we can be reminded that it’s never too late to learn something new. What do you want to learn today? Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Pauline Jambard Became My Family

I was nine when I arrived at the Children’s Home in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1965. I failed third grade that year, barely made it through a second time, and had squeaked through fourth grade by the time I reached Pauline Jambard’s fifth-grade class at Charlotte Avenue Elementary School.

I was convinced I wasn’t “smart” like the other kids, and I hoped I could make it through fifth grade. Ms. Jambard took an instant liking to me. Of all the subjects in school, reading was my favorite. She would tell me, “Terry, you keep reading. If you can understand what you’re reading, you’ll be smarter than most kids.” After I read all the books in our program, I started reading the classroom’s set of Encyclopedia Britannica. I couldn’t find enough to read, and I started to really like school.

That December, the children’s home threw a Christmas party for family and community members. My brother and I had no family to invite. I still remember looking up and seeing Ms. Jambard walk through the front doors of the children’s home and realizing she was there to see me. That was the best Christmas of my life.

After I graduated from Ms. Jambard’s class in 1969, my brother and I moved, and I lost all touch with my teacher. In 1983, I was on a business trip and had to drive through Nashua. I took a chance and dropped by Charlotte Avenue Elementary. I was walking toward her classroom when she came out in the hallway and said, “Terry!” It was as if I had never left. I was in seventh heaven on my flight home.

We have stayed in touch, and I call Pauline at least once a year. Because of the confidence she instilled in me, I went on to have a successful career in engineering and law enforcement. I don’t know if Pauline realizes how much she helped me, but I’ll never forget her kindness and faith in me. Terry Fallon, Bellemont, Arizona

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

The Month of Miracles kicked off last week, and we are excited about our 3rd Annual One Million Penny fundraiser! This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary that RE/MAX agents across the US and Canada have been supporting Children’s Miracle Network. One in four Arizona children will be treated at our local Phoenix Children’s Hospital next year. Each donation we receive helps to fund pediatric medical equipment, treatments, charitable care and other healthcare services for local CMN hospitals. As the contributions continue to grow, we are able to aid a larger number of sick and injured children, which is something we take great pride in being able to do for our community.

Please help us reach our goal of one million pennies for the Month of Miracles. You can drop by any one of our five office locations to participate in our fundraising efforts, or click here to make a donation online. Let’s make it a great week!

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“The unexamined life is not worth living.” Socrates

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! As I prepare for this week, this quote reminds me that we must inspect what we expect in our lives. What does that mean? If you expect to get results from something in your life, it needs to be tracked, examined and measured. If you spending money on a lead generating system, is it producing the results you expect? If you are paying a trainer at the gym, can you see the results of your efforts? Your goals, in business or at home, must be tracked, examined and measured. This week I challenge you examine your life. What gets measured, gets done. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

The Obstacle in our Path

There once was a very wealthy and curious king. This king had a huge boulder placed in the middle of a road. Then he hid nearby to see if anyone would try to remove the gigantic rock from the road.

The first people to pass by were some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers. Rather than moving it, they simply walked around it. A few loudly blamed the King for not maintaining the roads. Not one of them tried to move the boulder.

Finally, a peasant came along. His arms were full of vegetables. When he got near the boulder, rather than simply walking around it as the others had, the peasant put down his load and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. It took a lot of effort but he finally succeeded.

The peasant gathered up his load and was ready to go on his way when he say a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The peasant opened the purse. The purse was stuffed full of gold coins and a note from the king. The king’s note said the purse’s gold was a reward for moving the boulder from the road.

The king showed the peasant what many of us never understand: every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! Did you know that within five years, one in four Arizona children will have received care from Phoenix Children’s Hospital? 135,000 unique patients were treated last year, 188,000 physician appointments and 53,000 urgent care visits.

Since 1992, RE/MAX agents and brokers have invested in the well-being of their local communities by raising more than $150 million for 170 CMN Hospitals. We are excited to announce that our offices will be participating in our third annual Month of Miracles throughout the month of August. This is a month-long fundraising event is designed to raise much-need money to support our local Phoenix Children’s Hospital as well as raise awareness in our community.

Our goal is to raise ONE MILLION PENNIES next month, which is $10,000. Last year, RE/MAX Professionals was recognized by Children’s Miracle Network for having donated over $40,000 to our local PCH, which is the highest contributing RE/MAX Office in the Southwest Region (Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico).

The Month of Miracles kicks off next week, on August 1st. If you are a RE/MAX Professionals’ agent reading this email today, I hope you will join us in our efforts. And if you are a client, family member or friend, we invite you to stop by any of our five office locations and empty your piggy banks. Many of you have had a child or a loved one treated at PCH. Help us raise awareness and necessary funds to help PCH continue to treat our valley children! Let’s make it a great week!

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! If you could have anything in the world, what would it be? Last year I attended a small conference in Sedona, Arizona and as the ice-breaker the speaker asked this question of the group. A variety of answers were given, but the one that stood out was time. Time is our only limited recourse. So how we spend the days that make our hours, our days, our weeks should be spent well, because you will never get this moment back. How will you spend your day? Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

A Very Special Bank Account

Imagine you had a bank account that deposited $86,400 each morning. The account carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every dollar each day!

We all have such a bank. Its name is Time. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever time you have failed to use wisely. It carries over no balance from day to day. It allows no overdraft so you can’t borrow against yourself or use more time than you have. Each day, the account starts fresh. Each night, it destroys an unused time. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, it’s your loss and you can’t appeal to get it back.

There is never any borrowing time. You can’t take a loan out on your time or against someone else’s. The time you have is the time you have and that is that. Time management is yours to decide how you spend the time, just as with money you decide how you spend the money. It is never the case of us not having enough time to do things, but the case of whether we want to do them and where they fall in our priorities.

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” - H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! Don’t you love this quote? Imagine if we did our best every day, how our lives might look. How would your life change or improve? Do you know what your best is? This week I’d like to challenge you to do just a little more, every day. If that is one more rep at the gym, or one more hour of prospecting, or one more chapter read in that book you have been trying to finish. Do your you best. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Potatoes, Eggs, and Coffee Beans

Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.

Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot.

He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing.

After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.

He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?”

“Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,” she hastily replied.

“Look closer,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.

“Father, what does this mean?” she asked.

He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity– the boiling water.

However, each one reacted differently.

The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak.

The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard.

However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new.

“Which are you,” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “

Moral: In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us.

Which one are you?

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

The Flag by Michelle Selby

Red for the bloodshed in the name of Freedom,
for which we fought,
united

Blue for the oceans of time we have crossed,
remaining the land of the free
White for the peace we wish to share,
all men created equal

Stars to remember those who fought throughout the night,
bravely for our land
Stripes to remind us of the lashings taken by the Prisoners of War
With a seal, in God we trust
We each are one of many, in which we stand united in Brotherhood

A symbol of Pride
A salute to those who died in the fight
A blanket to cover us in times of need
Waving high to show we are still here, undefeated
With honor, you are presented to the world.

Nate’s Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! Thursday last week I paid my respects to a childhood friend who left the world far too early. This quote reminds me an important lesson about the journey of life.

Life is meant to be lived -- to its fullest. It’s not meant to be spent waiting for “someday” or “someone.” The journey is happening, whether you have the perfect body or the right amount of money in the bank. Life is happening now, and there is no guarantee how many tomorrows we’ll have. What can you do this week to live life to the fullest? Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Story About Sense of Time…

Once, an old man and a young man were sitting on the shore of a wild and stormy river.

“Master,” the student asked, “why does the time flow straight, but always ripples, either slowing down to a complete stop, or racing like a cow with a thistle under her tail?”

The teacher looked at the seething water and answered:

“You see there are a few large stones in the river and a lot of small pebbles. Imagine that the river is your life. If you will only rejoice over big occasions: about your wedding that will happen next month, that after one year you will have a son, that after five years you will be able to start your business, then you will cross your life in a few jumps, like jumping from one stone to another. If you will move in small paces over the pebbles, taking joy in small things: a sunny day, the beauty of autumn forest, a good conversation, later looking back at your life you won’t see ten big stones, on which you jumped, but lots of your own traces, every of which you will be able to remember with a happy smile. And you will see that the road that you have crossed is much longer.”

“But teacher, when I love, do the work that I like, talk with friends – the time flies fast, but the same time drags so long when I’m hurting, when I’m afraid and alone.”

“You see,” the old man answered wistfully, “this is what it should be. When we are unhappy, we don’t live but exist. During it, the time lies still in our wallets, and only for our happiness we pay the ringing coin of time, that we still have left.”
