Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 978

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…as we head into he holiday season, I thought it would be a good time to focus on our relationships and ask the question: do you treat all people in your life that are special, the way they deserve to be treated?

All of us go through life and with the hustle and bustle of living we forget to make sure we don’t take for granted those special people who are around us. It could be a spouse or significant other; it could be your children or your parents. It could be your best friend or a co-worker; it could be a total stranger.

This week, I’d like to challenge you to take five minutes to realize that we are never too busy to look into the eyes of the person or people we love for just a few extra seconds each day. Let’s take five minutes to realize we are never too busy to spend just a few more minutes playing with our kids or listening to a story from our parents. Let’s take five minutes to realize we are never too busy to help a dear friend with a problem. Let’s not be too busy in life that we miss living it. Let’s make it a great week!

Echo or Life - Unknown Author

"A son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams, “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!” To his surprise, he hears a voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain, “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!" Curious, he yells, "Who are you?” He receives the answer, "Who are you?” Angered at the response, he screams, “Coward!" He receives the answer, "Coward!"

He looks to his father and asks, "What's going on?” The father smiles and says, "My son, pay attention.” And then he screams to the mountain, “I admire you!” The voice answers, “I admire you!” Again the father screams, "You are a champion!” The voice answers, "You are a champion!”

The boy is surprised but does not understand. Then the father explains, "People call this echo, but really this is life. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given to it.”

“Your life is not a coincidence. It’s a reflection of you!"

“People are basically the same the world over. Everybody wants the same things - to be happy, to be healthy, to be at least reasonably prosperous, and to be secure. Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 977

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…last week we talked about fear and how to overcome those feelings. This week I’d like to focus on Q4 and how we can set ourselves up for a great 2020. I think a good practice for planning is taking inventory of what we did so far this year. Spend a few minutes looking at the great things that have already happened this year and all the amazing people who have come into our lives.

We use our past as a training ground for the future however, that can be limiting if we are using it as a benchmark for what we can or can not do. We want to learn from our past, but not let it control what we believe we can do, just because it has never been done before. We can all do, be and succeed at more; the sky is literally the limit. Dare to dream big and then go out and make it happen. I believe in you. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

Building Your House - Author Unknown

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, “This is your house... my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

Success Principle:

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently.

But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Someone once said, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Your attitude, and the choices you make today, help build the "house" you will live in tomorrow. Build wisely!

Nate's Monday Morning Message Volume 976

by Nate Martinez

Nate's Monday Morning Message

Welcome to this week’s edition of Nate’s Monday Morning Message…anything is possible, you are possible…did you commit to mastery this week? Did you commit to yourself; to your dreams and goals? Do you really believe that anything is possible? Or are you like many people who live in fear of pursuing their dreams and goals? Daily I see people within my company who are literally paralyzed by fear…fear of rejection, fear that they lack enough skill, fear that there isn’t enough business. So today, I’d like to share an acronym with you about the word fear.

FEAR:
(F) False
(E) Evidence
(R) Appearing
(R) Real

False evidence appearing real, just like anything we make-up in our minds, whether it is true or false, the feeling we attach to it, determines whether it is good or bad…or in other words, fear or happiness. Most people fail to realize that fear has the exact same emotional feeling in our bodies as excitement or happiness does. Fear can stop us dead in our tracks, while excitement can drive us to greatness. You get to decide…fear or excitement? I hope this week you choose excitement. Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

The Elephant Rope

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.

Nate's Monday Morning Message Volume 975

by Nate Martinez

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 975

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! This week, I want to share a quote from one of my favorite public figures, Tony Robbins: “One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.”

When I read this quote, there are two words that stand out the most and those are “power” and “mastery.” We are powerful beings, capable of doing and being whatever we can imagine possible, yet as this quote points out, most of us “dabble” our way through life, playing it safe or even worse, living in fear. Why is that?

I believe it is because we do not commit to mastery. The dictionary’s definition of the word “mastery” means to command the expert skill or knowledge. The only way we become a master of anything in life is to commit or focus our efforts 110+ percent. What can you do today to get out of fear and into mastery? What is one action you can take? Anything is possible…YOU are possible. So, dare to dream and dare to commit to mastery. Let’s make it a masterful week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

All the Difference in the World

Every Sunday morning, I take a light jog around a park near my home.  There’s a lake located in one corner of the park.  Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at the water’s edge with a small metal cage sitting beside her.

This past Sunday my curiosity got the best of me, so I stopped jogging and walked over to her.  As I got closer, I realized that the metal cage was in fact a small trap.  There were three turtles, unharmed, slowly walking around the base of the trap.  She had a fourth turtle in her lap that she was carefully scrubbing with a spongy brush.

“Hello,” I said.  “I see you here every Sunday morning.  If you don’t mind my nosiness, I’d love to know what you’re doing with these turtles.”

She smiled.  “I’m cleaning off their shells,” she replied.  “Anything on a turtle’s shell, like algae or scum, reduces the turtle’s ability to absorb heat and impedes its ability to swim.  It can also corrode and weaken the shell over time.”

“Wow!  That’s really nice of you!” I exclaimed.

She went on: “I spend a couple of hours each Sunday morning, relaxing by this lake and helping these little guys out.  It’s my own strange way of making a difference.”

“But don’t most freshwater turtles live their whole lives with algae and scum hanging from their shells?” I asked.

“Yep, sadly, they do,” she replied.

I scratched my head.  “Well then, don’t you think your time could be better spent?  I mean, I think your efforts are kind and all, but there are fresh water turtles living in lakes all around the world.  And 99% of these turtles don’t have kind people like you to help them clean off their shells.  So, no offense… but how exactly are your localized efforts here truly making a difference?”

The woman giggled aloud.  She then looked down at the turtle in her lap, scrubbed off the last piece of algae from its shell, and said, “Sweetie, if this little guy could talk, he’d tell you I just made all the difference in the world.”

The moral:  You can change the world – maybe not all at once, but one person, one animal, and one good deed at a time.  Wake up every morning and pretend like what you do makes a difference.  It does.

Nate's Monday Morning Message Volume 974: The Month of Miracles Grand Total

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Last week in our monthly business meeting we announced the grand total of fundraising that our offices generated during the month of August, and today I’d like to share that success with you!

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local with our Phoenix Children’s Hospital and go to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion!

Which brings me to our totals for this year…collectively our agents and offices were able to raise $21,263.10 which is more than double the goal we set for the Month of Miracles. For the past eighteen years we have continued to fundraise for our local PCH and because of the support we receive from our generous agent and loyal clients we have donated more than $450,000 year to date! I want to thank each of you reading this for your contribution – we could not have done this without you! Let’s make it a great week!

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 973 Remembering 911

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 973: Remembering 9/11

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Today I want to remember the 2,753 people who perished in the World Trade Center attacks that occurred on 9/11/2001. That day is a day that will be forever remembered in our hearts and in our country. For me, my family and my team, it will always be the day that we took a giant leap of faith, in the midst of confusion, chaos and heartbreak and forged forward with the first day that RE/MAX Professionals opened its doors.

We are proud of the company we have become today and so, so grateful that we live in a country which affords us the opportunities we have. I hope this week you will take a moment to remember those brave men and women who were the first responders on 9/11, as well as the many lives who were lost and the families who were impacted. We live in a great nation and 9/11 is a day that should never be forgotten or taken for granted! Let’s make it a great week!

We’re Still Standing by Hannah Schoechert, 7th grade student

Those twin towers
Standing tall with pride,
Fell with grieving hearts.
Stunned, America cried.

But we’re still standing.

Bin Laden tried
To crush our land,
But we stood our ground
With our flag in hand.

And we’re still standing.

Red for valor
And the blood that fell.
White for purity
Our heroes tell.
Blue for the justice
That will be done,
Proving once more
These colors don’t run.

And we’re still standing.

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 972

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! I hope that this email is finding each of you enjoying your hard-earned day off! Labor Day is the sign that summer is coming to an end, school is back in session and hopefully the days of triple digits are coming to a close! This day marks a moment in history where the hardworking men and women who forged the labor movement in the 1800s to ensure our rights in both socially and economically were represented. The rights we enjoy today were fought for many years ago and we have the American workers to thank.

From my family to yours, we want to wish you each a very happy, healthy and safe Labor Day celebration! Let’s make it a great week!

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER

CAN’T by Edgar Guest

Can't is the worst word that's written or spoken;
Doing more harm here than slander and lies;
On it is many a strong spirit broken,
And with it many a good purpose dies.
It springs from the lips of the thoughtless each morning
And robs us of courage we need through the day:
It rings in our ears like a timely-sent warning
And laughs when we falter and fall by the way.

Can't is the father of feeble endeavor,
The parent of terror and half-hearted work;
It weakens the efforts of artisans clever,
And makes of the toiler an indolent shirk.
It poisons the soul of the man with a vision,
It stifles in infancy many a plan;
It greets honest toiling with open derision
And mocks at the hopes and the dreams of a man.

Can't is a word none should speak without blushing;
To utter it should be a symbol of shame;
Ambition and courage it daily is crushing;
It blights a man's purpose and shortens his aim.
Despise it with all of your hatred of error;
Refuse it the lodgment it seeks in your brain;
Arm against it as a creature of terror,
And all that you dream of you some day shall gain.

Can't is the word that is foe to ambition,
An enemy ambushed to shatter your will;
Its prey is forever the man with a mission
And bows but to courage and patience and skill.
Hate it, with hatred that's deep and undying,
For once it is welcomed 'twill break any man;
Whatever the goal you are seeking, keep trying
And answer this demon by saying: "I can."

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 971

“Every time a football player goes to ply his trade, he’s got to play from the ground up – from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That is okay. You’ve got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you’ve got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you’re lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he’s never going to come off the field second.” Vince Lombardi

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! With football season right around the corner, I thought I would share one of my favorite quotes from the great Vince Lombardi. Each of you have goals, dreams and aspirations but in order to truly live a life we love, it takes guts, it takes sweat, it takes heart and sometimes it takes tears. It takes knowing what you want with every fiber of your body and going for it with passion and tenacity. It takes never giving up no matter the obstacles you face. I challenge you this week to take the leap you have been waiting for…face the fears…wipe away the tears and dig down deep. Do what it takes to make your life one that makes your want to jump out of bed each morning because you get to be YOU! Let’s make it a great week!

P.S. This is the last week of this year’s Month of Miracles! Please help us reach our goal of One Million Pennies to benefit our local Phoenix Children’s Hospital. You can make a donation online at: https://rem.ax/2yvmXTo

Everyone Has a Story in Life

A 24-year-old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted, “Dad, look the trees are going behind!”

Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24-year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed, “Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”

The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?”

The old man smiled and said, “I did, and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.”

Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 969

Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 969

Welcome to Nate’s Monday Morning Message! Today I would like to ask you what this statement means to you: “money doesn’t grow on trees.” What does that remind you of? How does it make you feel? For me, it is a reminder of how far I have come both personally and professionals, and how different life is for my three children. Growing up in Maryvale with a single mom who struggled to make ends meet, money didn’t grow on trees and she had to work hard for the money we did have. And I know many of you reading this can relate.

I decided at a young age that I would have a different relationship with money. I chose to let money work for me, not against me. If we believe that making money is a hard, then it will always be hard. True, money doesn’t grow on trees, however, our attitudes and beliefs towards money impact how easily and frequently it comes into our lives. Instead of telling yourself that “money doesn’t grow on trees,” change the dialogue to be more in alignment with the goals you have in life in which you need money to support. Two of my favorites are: “my necessities are met with abundance” and “I live in a world of abundance.” Let’s make it a great week!

The Taoist Farmer

This farmer had only one horse, and one day the horse ran away. The neighbors came to condole over his terrible loss. The farmer said, "What makes you think it is so terrible?"

A month later, the horse came home, this time bringing with her two beautiful wild horses. The neighbors became excited at the farmer's good fortune. Such lovely strong horses! The farmer said, "What makes you think this is good fortune?"

The farmer's son was thrown from one of the wild horses and broke his leg. All the neighbors were very distressed. Such bad luck! The farmer said, "What makes you think it is bad?"

A war came, and every able-bodied man was conscripted and sent into battle. Only the farmer's son, because he had a broken leg, remained. The neighbors congratulated the farmer. "What makes you think this is good?" said the farmer.
